Weekend in Houston

This past weekend we were in Houston visiting Scott's parents. We had a real nice visit. Tyler played a lot with Grandmom. Here are some of the things they did.
Walking to get the mail
Tyler getting the mail with some help
Sitting on the swing by the lake
Splashing in the spa
When we got there on Friday, Grandmom and Grandpop watched Tyler while Scott and I went to buy a new van. Some of you know I got in an accident on July 4. I'm fine, but the car was not. We couldn't find a silver one here like we wanted and the dealerships weren't getting any new ones because they're waiting for the 2010 to come out. There was one in Houston, so we got it. Don't have a picture of it yet.

Saturday morning we went to the Houston Reliant Dog Show. This is Scott and Tyler with Hershey, Wrigley's brother. He finished his Championship on Friday at the show. This is also the show that Wrigley got his Championship at and won best of breed all 3 days.

What to be when I grow up

A photographer
A firefighter

Uncle Jason is a volunteer firefighter so he took Tyler to the station and let him sit in the trucks. Tyler loved it.

A professional bean bag toss player

These were some of the things he did up in IL. I'll post more about our trip later.

IL Trip

Tyler and I were in IL last week visiting family and meeting, Zac, the newest addition. We had a great time there. I was able to stay the first night with my sister to help with Zac, but he slept all night and was great. Tyler stayed at my parents. That was our first night apart and we both did well. The second night I stayed at my sister's, Tyler stayed too. He loves his cousin Allissa and wanted to do everything with her. He loves jumping on their trampoline too. He was quite jealous whenever I held Zac. We tried to get him to hold Zac, but he didn't want to.
Sunday evening we had an early birthday party for Tyler. This was his favorite gift. It was a Handy Manny drill/saw that actually moves and makes noise. It also had a set of pliers with eyes on them like the show. Tyler slept with those that night. He would not put them down.
Monday and Tuesday morning, Grandpa took Tyler and his other two cousins, Kyla and Kaleb to the park. They have so much fun with grandpa.
Tuesday night we had a cookout at Val and Jason's and then went to see Allissa's softball game. Tyler had fun and loved watching Allissa. He kept trying to go in the dugout with her.

Big Boy Bed

While we were in IL this past week, Tyler took his naps and even slept a few nights in a toddler bed. My parents have a crib set up, so the first night he slept in it like always. The next night, we stayed with my sister and she has a toddler firetruck bed, so Tyler slept in that and liked it. When we got back to my parents he slept in the toddler bed they set up. We got home today and we converted his crib to the toddler bed. My little boy is growing up.

My little Picasso

Yesterday, we went to a play date at Artworks Studio. It was very cool and Tyler loved all the painting he was able to do. They have 10 stations set up and the kids get a project to take home from each of them. Here are just a few of the things he did.

For this one, you roll paint over this decorative paper and then when you take it off, your paper has a cool design.
Here, you dip cars in paint and then roll them over your paper.
Tyler made a lizard. I helped him use the stencils to make the design on the lizard's back, then he painted over it and glued on feet, an eye, and a tongue.
Here, Tyler painted whatever his little heart desired.
For this one, he put a paper plate on a record player and while it spun around, he would hold a highligher on it and make a cool design.
