2nd Grade

Tyler started school today as a 2nd grader.  He knows about 4 boys in his class and a few girls. He is not with Colby or Kyle, but they do have recess together. His teacher is Ms. Parisher.  She was a 1st grade teacher last year and next to his class, so he knows who she is.  We're looking forward to a good year.

Dance Class

We took a break from gymnastics for the summer.  Molly kept telling me she wanted to do dance.  I know how much she loves gymnastics, so I wasn't sure she'd want to stick with dance.  The school district offers different classes and camps in the summer, so Molly just did a dance camp. (Tyler had done a Bug Camp earlier in the summer.)  It was 4 Tuesdays.  She had fun, but wants to do gymnastics again.  It was taught by KinderDance, so they do dance, but teach other things too.  I think at a dance studio, it'd be a little different.  On the last Tuesday, the parents got to watch the class.
She's in first position here with her feet.
They did some tap too.
It was so cute to watch her try to follow along with all the moves

Camping Trip

Tyler's best friend, Colby had a camping trip for his birthday a few weeks ago.  Tyler and Scott went and had fun despite the 100+ temp.  They had hot dogs over the camp fire and made smores, went on hikes, and spent a lot of time in the water-Tyler's favorite.
All the boys were given a fishing pole when they got to there.
Tyler said this was so much fun to slide down

We plan to go camping as a family in the fall.  The kids can't wait.

The Flying L

Last Monday we headed to the Flying L with some friends.  We went when my parents were here and the kids just love it.  The kids had a good time.

This was Molly's first time going down this slide.  When we came with my parents, she said it was too big.  She finally did it this time and loved it!
We did have one little accident though.  Once the big kids came over to the slide in the previous picture, they started climbing up the slide.  I told them not to, but I wasn't adamant about it because I feel like I'm always telling them no. Sure enough Molly and Ainsely had just gone down and were talking at the bottom when one of the boys was climbing up.  He slipped and came back down on top of them.  Ainsley ended up with a fat lip, but Molly got knocked over and cut open her chin on the ground.  We had to leave and go to Urgent Care.  Luckily, Scott was home and met us there.  They numbed it with just some gel and then were able to glue it.
The steri stips they put over it are suppose to fall out on their own.  Until then, she can't get it fully immersed in water, which means no pool.  On Saturday, she must have bumped it because it started bleeding again.  I called them and they said as long as it's not infected not to bring her in and it'll heal itself.  Now we have to wait for that scab to come off.  That'll make it an even longer process. We're hoping to have it all off by the end of the week.  From friends I've talked to, it sounds like stitches would have been the better way to go.  Oh well, Molly has never once complained about. She's a trooper.

Tyler's birthday

We had a fun day on Tyler's birthday.  In the morning, he opened presents.

Then we went to the Wildlife Safari.

That evening, we had dinner at Chuy's, Tyler's favorite and then had a cookie cake at home.
