Weekend in Denver

Scott had to go to Denver last week for work Wednesday-Friday.  Our wonderful friends, Paul and Julia, watched the kids so I could fly out there Friday for a weekend away.  Friday we went downtown Denver to 16th street.  The reviews were mixed on trip advisor and we weren't that impressed.  But we did eat at this wonderful place called Paramount Cafe.  We had a bison burger and it was the best burger I have ever had! That made our trip down there worth it.  Then we went to Cherry Creek Mall and looked around for a bit before going out for dessert.

Saturday Scott's sister, Stacey met us and we went to Rocky Mountain National Park and then to Estes Park. The mountains were just amazing.  My mom's family lived there while we were growing up so we went there every summer for vacation.  I have seen the mountains before, but being young, I don't think I appreciated how awesome they are.  They were just beautiful.

We decided to go on horseback ride through Rocky Mountain National Park.  It was fun and of course, beautiful!  My horse was Flax, Stacey's was Zack, and Scott's was Levi.  Levi had a personality of his own.  This was their first ride of the season and Levi wasn't sure he wanted to go with the group.  He constantly went off the path and wouldn't do what he was suppose to.  It was so funny!!  I think the horses personality matched his riders!  Here are pictures from the ride.

This is Deer Mountain.  You can go on a 6 hour ride and go all the way to the top!

In Estes Park, we looked at cute little shops and had some BBQ chicked Pizza-it was yummy!!

That was our Saturday.  Sunday we went to the Denver Botanical Gardens, but I'll have to do that as a seperate post.

Looks really nice, cool but nice. The horse rides sound like fun, maybe Dad and I will try that when we go to Denver. Glad that you got away for the weekend.
