Camps for the kids

Last week the kids both went to a camp at San Antonio Academy.  They were just in the morning from 9-11:30.  Tyler's was "Digging up History" and Molly's was "Reading Adventures." They both really enjoyed them and learned a lot while having fun.

Tyler learned about archaeologist and how they preform digs and what tools they use.  They studies fossils and made some of their own in clay.  They studied Egyptian artifacts such as kings, mummies, and tombs.  Tyler learned about Hieroglyphics and other ancient languages-that was one of his favorite parts.  They also talked about unique excavations such as Pompeii, underwater digs, and ice digs.
This was the Papyrus they made and then he wrote some Hieroglyphics on it-it's just hard to see.
This is a kings headdress, some clay fossils, a mummy

Molly's class read Laura Numeroff's books each day.  After they read the book, they made a craft, did a learning activity, and had a fun snack.  The books they did were: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and If You Give a Dog a Donut.  Their learning activities were sequencing, counting, and graphs. Molly had a blast!
