Friday, April 15th, the day after Molly's birthday and the day before her birthday party, she had an art show at school. It was a crazy, busy three days. The 15th was also mine and Scott's 16th wedding anniversary. We're celebrating by going to Austin this weekend, just the two of us. Back to the art show. Molly has been learning about many different artists at school and how they painted. She's told me how Georgia O'Keeffe painted big subjects and Jackson Pollock was an action painter. Molly was excited to show us her artwork. It was a lot of fun.

This was three pieces of wood glued together. The child would squirt paint onto the top, then count to 5 while it dripped down, then add another color, count to 5 again and continue until it looked how they wanted it to.
|
This is how they made this picture and the one above. She made this one while I was there for her birthday. The paper is on a bike wheel. She squirts on paint and the teacher spins it. She adds as many colors as she wants till it's how she likes it.

This was the paper sculpture all the kids worked on. It started as the kids just rolling up newspaper and gluing it wherever they wanted. Once it was how they liked it, they painted it.

This was our family project. They sent a bag home with a few different pieces and that's all we could use other than markers or paint and glue or tape. Molly named ours, The Feathery, Glittery Snow Girl

I have just loved Molly's school this year. She's had so much fun there. It's a Montessori School, so even though there are no desk and worksheets, she learned a lot. This Thursday is Pajama Day and in May they have Mud Day and then she's finished on May 25. It was a splurge to send her there, but I'm so glad we did.
