Busy and Fun Saturday!!

Yesterday, we had one busy day.  We started off the morning going to the River City Cluster of Dogs Show.  Since Molly loves dogs, we knew she'd love it.  The rest of us enjoyed it too.

After the dog show, we picked up my niece, Allissa at the airport.  She flew in from IL and will be here for a week.  She watched a movie with the kids and played some games with Molly that afternoon.  Then we celebrated Tyler's birthday early.  He's going back with Allissa on Friday and will be in IL for his birthday.  We celebrated early so he can get some practice on one of his gifts before he goes.
Tyler has been bummed that I won't let him take my Kindle to IL and for his ride to CO with G & G.  I got him a new book, a drawing kit, a joke book (get ready Mom and Dad) and car bingo. I told him these are what me and his aunts had to play with when we were his age.

But we really did get him an electronic!  He got a Samsung Galaxy.  He loves it of course and can get used to it and get all his apps and games on it before he leaves.
Tyler picked Two Step for his dinner.
After dinner, we went to the Tejas Rodeo.  I have been wanting to go for awhile and it was something new we could do with Allissa.  It was a lot of fun.  Allissa rode the mechanical bull and the kids each had a pony ride.

The rodeo part was fun too.  We saw bull riding, calf roping, mutton busting, barrel racing, and a calf scramble.

We have lots of fun things planned with Allissa, so stay tuned!

The Pool

At least 4 times a week you can find us at the pool or at a friend's pool.  Molly has become a little fish and would go everyday if possible.  Every time we go, she learns a new trick.  She swims underwater all the time, but when she jumps in, she usually wants me to catch her.  Now, she goes under and is fine with it.  She can touch the bottom of the pool (in the 3 feet area) and do a handstand.  She can drive down and get diving toys, which is one of her favorite things to do.  She can do a hotdog roll while underwater.  Anytime someone asks how old she is and I tell them 4, they're very impressed with how well she swims.

Camps for the kids

Last week the kids both went to a camp at San Antonio Academy.  They were just in the morning from 9-11:30.  Tyler's was "Digging up History" and Molly's was "Reading Adventures." They both really enjoyed them and learned a lot while having fun.

Tyler learned about archaeologist and how they preform digs and what tools they use.  They studies fossils and made some of their own in clay.  They studied Egyptian artifacts such as kings, mummies, and tombs.  Tyler learned about Hieroglyphics and other ancient languages-that was one of his favorite parts.  They also talked about unique excavations such as Pompeii, underwater digs, and ice digs.
This was the Papyrus they made and then he wrote some Hieroglyphics on it-it's just hard to see.
This is a kings headdress, some clay fossils, a mummy

Molly's class read Laura Numeroff's books each day.  After they read the book, they made a craft, did a learning activity, and had a fun snack.  The books they did were: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and If You Give a Dog a Donut.  Their learning activities were sequencing, counting, and graphs. Molly had a blast!

4th of July Weekend

Thursday evening, Scott's friend, Patrick arrived from Shreveport.  That evening we went out to dinner at Chuy's.
Friday morning, Scott and Patrick met up with their friend, Jeff from Houston to golf.
That evening, we all met up with Jeff's family for some BBQ.
Jeff, Tambrey, and their daughter, Zoe came back to the house after dinner.  Zoe is big into Minecraft, so her and Tyler connected and played for awhile.  We also did a few fireworks and sparklers before they left.

Saturday, July 4th, we started out the morning by going to Top Golf.  The kids love it and we always have a good time.

That evening, my friend, Rachel and her family joined us for a cookout, badminton, and fireworks.  It was such a fun time.  We normally only buy sparklers and a few little things, but Patrick always does it big.  So we had some fun fireworks-we had tanks, parachutes, lady bugs, saucers, roman candles, big ones he lit that went high and were big. The last two he lit had 45 fireworks between the two.  The pictures aren't great, but I'll post a few.  There will be no going back-the kids will want this every year now.

I have to add in this picture of Molly and Patrick!  She just loved him!
She loved climbing on him and he played with her and was silly with her.  She "read" books to him.  On Saturday night I said something about him leaving and Molly asked where he was going and I told her home-her little lip came out and she started crying!  She told Daddy we need to make a trip to Shreveport soon.  Patrick calls games for Northwestern State and will be back here in October.

Today we finished off our weekend by going to the pool.  It will be early to bed for all of us tonight.

Carman's Baby Shower

Last weekend we went to Austin so I could give Carman a baby shower.  She wanted a "shower" theme.  Everything turned out cute.
Unfortunately it's a little hard to see this one.  The white puffs are suppose to be clouds and then they have raindrops coming down from them.  For dessert, we had cupcakes and almond bark pretzels.  The little cupcake toppers said, Baby Sprinkle, Sprinkled with Love, and Baby Girl
I thought these little rain boots with balloons made a cute decoration for when guests arrived
We played the game, "How Big is Carman's Baby Belly?" Everyone had to cut yarn and then we measured to see who was the closest.  I don't have pictures of the second game, but it was a list of pregnancy words and you had to match them to the correct piece of candy. For example: girl name: Baby Ruth; baby giggles:snickers, hospital bill:100 Grand...things like that.  Then whenever someone answered correctly, I'd throw them that kind of candy.

We had a yummy lunch of chicken salad croissants, turkey and cheese sandwiches, fruit salad, broccoli salad, and chips with a shrimp salsa.

Carman received many gifts that she needed-this is their first, so they need everything! Scott set up the crib for them and we gave them the dresser that matched the crib and took up our bassinet for them to use.

We can't wait for little baby girl Shobe to arrive!
